Resumen

Indigenous peoples in the Western Hemisphere hold a rich history of collective action and social movements as they have fought for their communities under the settler-colonial states. In this paper, we aim to show the ways in which Torres and Guinier’s concept of demosprudence has been showcased in the context of Indigenous movements across North and South America. Specifically, we will be dissecting the histories and policy effects of movements in Peru, the United States, Colombia, Paraguay, Bolivia, and Canada. We may examine the presence and causes of varying levels of success amongst Indigenous social movements through this framework.
